which Hoodia to buyWith the wide range of Hoodia weight loss products being offered, pure Hoodia slimming supplements are actually difficult to find. The majority of Hoodia diet supplements on the market are not pure Hoodia Gordonii at all, but rather other species of the Hoodia family plant which do not contain the active ingredient, P57, responsible for suppressing the appetite.

In certain cases, the Hoodia weight loss supplements do contain Hoodia Gordonii, but they are not pure Hoodia; which brings us to the case of a fraudulent company ironically named "Pure Hoodia Inc", an American company based in Nevada. This is not to be confused with Pure Hoodia, the UK based company and which are actually offer 100% pure Hoodia Gordonii.

In mid-2004 a flurry of stories began running about the potency of pure Hoodia as an appetite suppressant. Suppliers of pure Hoodia capsules found that the demand for their product had suddenly skyrocketed. Unfortunately, there was not enough of the plant available to meet the new demands; while Hoodia is not actually a cactus is does have many of the properties of a cactus, meaning it grows incredibly slowly. The Hoodia farmers simply were not in a position to suddenly increase production of pure Hoodia by 1000% overnight.

Not want to miss out on wealth and profit, the owners and operators of Pure Hoodia Inc. had a few tricks up their sleeves to deal with this. The first one was to encourage their suppliers to mix in the roots of Hoodia into their “pure Hoodia mix”, as well as using other forms of the plant besides Hoodia Gordonii. Once Pure Hoodia Inc had this tainted and low potency Hoodia, they did not use as much of it in their products as they claimed, simply filling the rest with sawdust and nondescript vegetable matter.

Of the average 400mg capsule sold by Pure Hoodia Inc, only about 290mg was shown to be Hoodia of any type. The capsules themselves were actually shown to be too small to hold 400mg of pure Hoodia powder."

There are Hoodia diet supplement suppliers who do not display their CITES certificates or their independent Lab test results which raises suspicions about their claim that their product contains pure Hoodia Gordonii.
